I have been known to “fly by the seat of my pants.” That really means I usually did things by mood or in crisis mode.
Have you ever heard the phrase-- “I work best in a crisis!” Or, have you heard the phrase “I work best under pressure!” I do not really think this is true, I think it is something that we tell ourselves. Why would this be a problem? I think that it is an excuse for rushed work that has been procrastinated.
I am capable of doing better.
What Changed Me?
Contemplating creativity changed me. I create my world by my choices. Yes, through the choices I make, I create my world. I choose how to interact with people and things. And I choose my attitudes and my priorities through the things I do. Heavenly Father helps inform those choices. He helps me know the most important.
The minimum maintenance of daily and weekly things still needs to be done. Years ago, I started out deep cleaning by having cleaning cards– daily, every other day, weekly, monthly, and annually. I did that when we lived in Colorado. I recreated them here. However, if something unexpected happened, I was thrown off. I either had to postpone to the next rotation or double up to catch up. That did not work for me anymore. It is a great exercise to know all that needs to be done in a space, but as a system, yikes.
I have moved away from the card system and into a zone-type system of rhythms for deep cleaning my home. This was all part of my rethinking process!
My “Cleaning Creation Plan,” emerged with seven zones. I divided the home into seven zones. I prioritized, and day by day, I worked through them for a given time. I started by tidying and then cleaning from the ceiling to the floor. If I get interrupted for a few days due to illness, vacation, major high-priority projects, etc., I pick up where I left off, and continue to move forward.
