The EDGE
E is for Edify
Edify your child through teaching them to pray, faith based songs, Bible verse memorization, service, and Bible stories.
D is for Develop
Develop their heart, brain, and body with family work, family play, service, helping them establish good habits, as well as, lots of running, climbing, crawling, jumping, spinning, sliding, brachiating, and balancing to integrate the brain, build attention span, develop executive functions, and brain/body balance.
G is for Grow
Grow your child through healthy diet, exercise, proper rest, fresh air and sunshine.
* Feed them fewer processed snacks and more nutrient dense fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grains, eggs, cheese, and meats.
* Get them more vigorous exercise and less sedentary screen time. Too much screen time and not enough vigorous activity can result in learning delays later.
* Fresh air and exercise gets more oxygen to the brain.
* Sunshine builds health through vitamin D3 acquisition.
* Make sure they get regular good sleep.
* Add quite time in the afternoon so they are not overstimulated. I recommend 90 minutes.
E is for Engage.
Engage your child's heart, mind, and imagination through shared stories, family history stories, nursery rhymes, singing children's songs / folk songs, visiting museums, going to the zoo, exploring the world around your child, gardening, handwork/crafts and experimenting on new knowledge. Speak descriptively, use color, size, direction, time language, and quantity. This builds their vocabulary and builds a reference of understanding and context needed later for math and science.
